OTOY Studio vs Runway
Runway is a video generation and editing suite built around its own models, Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0, with third-party models such as Seedance and Kling added on top. OTOY Studio is a node canvas that runs 111 models from many labs, including image-to-3D and Gaussian splats, and chains them into graphs you can save and re-run. Pick Runway if you want Gen-4.5 or Aleph, ProRes or HDR output, or a published API. Pick OTOY Studio if a project mixes video with 3D or splats, or you want a published credit price for every model.

Where Runway is better
- Its own models. Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0 are only on Runway and a few partners. OTOY Studio does not have them.
- Finishing formats. The Max plan outputs HDR, ProRes and image sequences, and Runway has plugins for Premiere, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. OTOY Studio exports MP4, WebM and an FCP7 XML timeline, with no ProRes or image sequences.
- Publishing workflows. A Runway Workflow can be published as an app or an API endpoint. OTOY Studio shares a workflow by link, and its API is not public.
Where OTOY Studio is better
- 3D and Gaussian splats. Make a mesh with Meshy or Rodin, a splat from photos or a phone video, or a world from one image with World Labs Marble. Then render a camera move in the 3D scene editor and use it as the reference for a video model. See AI video with 3D control.
- More labs in one graph. Veo 3.1, LTX, MiniMax H3, Moonvalley Marey and Beeble SwitchX sit next to Seedance and Kling, so you can run one prompt through several models and compare. See all AI video models in one place.
- A real free plan. 100 credits every month, not a one-time grant, with commercial use on every plan.
- Published prices. Every model and setting has a credit price on its model page. Compare per-second costs in AI video cost per second.
Switching from Runway
- Download what you want to keep. On Runway's Assets page, select assets or folders, then Actions, then Download. It arrives as a ZIP. Very large selections can fail, so work in batches.
- Bring the files in. Drag images and clips onto an OTOY Studio canvas. They work as inputs for any model.
- Map the features you use.
- Gen-4.5 text and image to video: Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 or Seedance 2.5. See how to turn an image into a video.
- Aleph video editing: Kling O3 video edit, Luma Ray 3.2 video-to-video or Decart Lucy.
- Workflows: rebuild the graph on the canvas with the same nodes, then save it.
- Check the cost of your usual volume on the model pages before you move a whole project.
Bottom line
For Runway's own models and ProRes delivery, stay on Runway. For work that mixes models from several labs with 3D and splats, OTOY Studio fits better, and the free plan is enough to test a real shot: otoy.studio.
