# Beeble alternatives and OTOY Studio vs Beeble

Beeble is the specialist for relighting live-action footage. Beeble Studio and its VFX Pass Generator turn footage into PBR passes (normals, base color, roughness, specular, metallic, alpha and depth) for relighting in Nuke, Blender or Unreal, and SwitchX 2.0 in Beeble Cloud outputs up to 4K at 10-bit. OTOY Studio runs Beeble SwitchX as one node among 111 models, at 720p or 1080p with an alpha matte, and adds 3D and Gaussian splats. Choose Beeble for compositing-grade passes and 4K. Choose OTOY Studio when relighting is one step in a pipeline that also generates the background, a 3D scene or a splat.

## Where Beeble is better

- **Passes for compositing.** Normals, albedo, roughness, metallic, specular and depth let a compositor relight in Nuke or 3D. OTOY Studio returns a finished relit video, not passes. See [AI video relighting](https://otoy.studio/answers/ai-video-relighting).
- **Resolution and bit depth.** SwitchX 2.0 in Beeble's own app reaches 4K at 10-bit.
- **Local processing.** Beeble Studio runs on your own GPU, for footage that cannot leave the building.
- **Finishing tools.** SDR to HDR in ACES EXR, matting with MatAnyone and CorridorKey, Despill, and plugins for Nuke, Blender and Unreal.

## Where OTOY Studio is better

- **The rest of the shot.** Generate the new background with an image or video model, a 3D scene, or a Gaussian splat of a real location, then composite the subject into it with SwitchX on the same canvas. See [how to make a Gaussian splat](https://otoy.studio/answers/how-to-make-a-gaussian-splat).
- **3D and splats.** Meshy, Rodin, Hunyuan3D and splat training from photos or video. Beeble does not make meshes or splats you can export.
- **Commercial use on the free plan.** Beeble's free plan is non-commercial and does not include SwitchX.
- **Mac and any browser.** Beeble Studio needs Windows or Linux with an NVIDIA GPU.

## Using both

A common split is to rough out and approve the shot in OTOY Studio, with SwitchX at 1080p, then run the final plate through Beeble Studio or Beeble Cloud when the compositor needs 4K or passes. Outputs from either tool are ordinary video files that work as inputs in the other.
